Captain David Pimpo

Captain Pimpo is a native of Strongsville, Ohio. He was commissioned in the Navy Supply Corps after attending the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, R.I. and the United States Naval Academy, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1986. He also holds a Master’s of Business Administration degree from the Darden Business School at the University of Virginia and is a graduate of the Wharton Business School Executive Development Program at the University of Pennsylvania.

Pimpo’s previous position was as Deputy Director, Standing Joint Force Headquarters, United States Northern Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. He assisted in leading operations personnel, operational planners, intelligence analysts, mobility and support professionals, and information command and control specialists to provide USNORTHCOM with a deployable Joint Command and Control Element and focused transformational planning for homeland defense.

His other shore assignments include Assistant Force Supply Officer for Commander, Naval Air Forces; Military Deputy for Supply Systems and Policy, Commander, Naval Air Forces; Director of Aviation Support Systems and later Director of the Aircraft Engine Program, Naval Inventory Control Point, Philadelphia, Pa.; Flag Aide to Director, Defense Logistics Agency; and Navy Acquisition Contracting Officer with the AH-1W Cobra team, Naval Air Systems Command.

Pimpo’s sea tours include Supply Officer of USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) during her maiden deployment; Assistant Supply Officer of USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) during her maiden deployment; Disbursing and Sales Officer, and later Supply Officer of USS Knox (FF 1052). While he was aboard Stennis, she was awarded an unprecedented Joint Type Command Blue "E", designating CVN-74 as having the best aircraft carrier Supply Department in the Navy. While serving aboard Reagan, her Supply Department was awarded two consecutive departmental Blue "E"s for excellence as well as the Edward F. Ney Award for Food Service excellence. The ship’s store operation was selected as the Best of Class for all aircraft carriers and earned two consecutive Ship’s Store Excellence Awards.

Pimpo is designated as both a Naval Aviation and Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer. His personal awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, three Meritorious Service Medals, two Navy Commendation Medals, and three Navy Achievement Medals.
